Development at the Port of Longview in Washington has been stunted for years by an inadequate, congested on-site rail system. After four unsuccessful tries to obtain federal funding, the Port hired CFM to shape a winning strategy. CFM groomed the Port’s application based on its knowledge and experience securing competitive federal transportation grants and galvanized congressional support. The result was a $16 million Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) grant that will enable the Port to accommodate unit trains, reduce congestion and enhance efficiency – all important qualities to attract new Port users and create good-paying jobs.
